    The DNA Technology (Use & Application) Regulation Bill, 2019, which regulated the use and application of DNA technology for determining a person's identification in criminal investigations, was withdrawn by the Centre from the Lok Sabha on Monday. According to government sources, the decision was made as a result of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022, which was passed last year and gives police and prison guards the right to take biological samples, including DNA, from those who have been detained, imprisoned, on trial, or found guilty in a criminal case.
