    This year, the district recorded 56 dengue cases and 24 malaria cases. No chikungunya cases have been reported so far. The district recorded 1,539 dengue cases in 2019, 239 in 2020, 295 in 2021 and 388 cases in 2022. Meanwhile, 2,797 malaria cases were reported in 2019, and the number dropped to 1,397 in 2020, 689 in 2021 and 168 cases were reported last year.

  • Not against raising fines for mosquito breeding: Delhi government

    The court asked the government to inform it about the outcome of the proposal to raise on-the-spot fines for institutions where mosquitoes are found breeding from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000. It asked the government to examine imposing on-the-spot fines to create deterrence in the minds of the people who ignore mosquito breeding in their premises.

  • Haryana breaches 8-year-old record; 14 dengue deaths so far

    The dengue outbreak was first reported in September and health authorities had claimed to have made a number of arrangements to deal with the situation. Till Sunday morning, Haryana had registered 6,151 cases and 14 deaths, as per health officials. The chikungunya cases in the state have also increased manifold this year.

  • Dengue cases show a spike, October is the most vulnerable month

    Officials said that October can be the most vulnerable period for the spread of dengue in Delhi and recent spells of rain have only added to the woes. Recently, the Delhi government asked hospitals to reserve 10-15 per cent beds for patients of vector-borne diseases.
